BL - 170 (G-163)
The BL-170 (G-163) is our heaviest lift untethered benthic lander. With the Nautilus Marine Service Vitrovex 21mm thick 12km rated glass spheres buoyancy spheres and the proper anchor release arrangement, this lander can travel to the absolute deepest ocean depth… and back again. It is deployable from larger ships-of-opportunity using a davit, a small A-frame, or light crane, or with a tipping launch ramp. Extended bottom times, up to a year or longer, are possible with the EdgeTech BART acoustic release, housed inside the upper sphere. Polished spheres make excellent camera housings, such as those used on the DEEPSEA CHALLENGE Expedition. Other third party companies have camera system offerings that adapt well to this machine. Other release options include countdown timers, and Galvanic Timed releases (GTRs). Fits the Global Ocean Design Beacon Board to assist with surface location and recovery. Low cost/no cost ship time is available with International SeaKeepers Society “Discovery Yachts”. The lander can carry custom or commercial payloads, including twin 30-liter Niskin bottles, a Moore Corer, and drop arms with baited traps. This lander could be useful as a sample carrying “Pack horse” with HROV operations. Extremely end-user customizable. Contact factory for further details and other custom requirements.
